I recently went to Underworld/Fissure of Woe the other day. It's located, as stated before, at the Temple of Ages. You pay (now) 1000 gold (1 platinum) to go inside and fight level 29+ monsters. Basically, it's for folks to group for a high level challenge to get lots of nice loot and provide some "end game" area for folks who like to PvE more than PvP or a place to go when you finish most missions and lookin for excitement.
It's no pushover and, honestly, random pick up groups isn't such a good idea. I spent an hour or so there with a pickup group before the 1 plat fee, and let me tell ya, we hardly got anywhere. You need people who can follow directions, get along and willing to die a few times because those mobs are pretty rough for unorganized people. |

As a clarification, the Underworld and the Fissure of Woe are two separate areas. If you talk to the Voice of Grenth and make a donation while your world has the favor of the gods, you'll be taken to the underworld, along with your group(and you'll want 8 reliable players). If you speak to the Champion of Balthazar and make a donation, you'll go to the Fissure of Woe. To get the Voice of Grenth or Champion of Balthazar to appear, you just have to kneel in front of the Statue of Grenth or Statue of Balthazar in the Temple of the Ages.

Whats the easiest way to get to temple of ages? Looking at the map. Bergen hot springs seems closest. But not sure if you have to go via Divinity coast or fishermans haven? thanks for an answer... |

start from bergen hotsprings run through cursed lands if you die far enough into it so it resses you through or happen to make it through then head to the far north east corner of The Black Curtain. From the north east corner you can then head west though the poison swamps and avoid alot of mobs. once you get to the bonedragons your almost their and could probably ditch your henchmen and make a break for it without to much trouble.

You have to go by making a donation at the temple of ages- you can only do it when your world has the favor of the gods, and it'll cost you 1000 gold each time you go in.

What happens if the party dies? Will they respawn in the Underworld to continue, or will they respawn in the Temple of Ages, where they have to pay 1000 gp again to enter?

You can also access those worlds through statues in the Explorable Areas. The on in Lornar's Pass, for instance, would take you to the underworld if your world had the favor of the gods.
That happened to my guildies and I as we were trying to trek down to Droknar's Forge, and the one person in our group that wasn't in our guild or on teamspeak entered the underworld and managed to lose the two hours of work we had just put into the trek. It was great. |
